Tribute To Morag

SDS Forum wish to share the sad news of the death of Morag Wilson our previous Chairperson

Morag is a founder member of the Self Directed Support forum. Back in 2008 she campaigned with other community activists for funding to get a forum off the ground. She cared for her husband at the time and was very aware of the challenges this role could bring .Thanks to the persistence and resilience of Morag and her peers, in 2011 the forum acquired funding and became a registered charity. Morag was committed to supporting people to access resources and get advice , enabling them to be as independent as possible and stay in their own home.

Morag became the chairperson of the Board in 2017 and was in this role until 2023. She was a stickler for doing things properly and was always ready to address any challenges head on . She also supported a coffee morning in the community every month to provide peer support,she wanted to make the journey easier for people trying to get support in place.

The forum is very thankful for Morag’s service to the community, she was kind, intelligent and had a great sense of humour. Her wisdom and hope will be sorely missed. Our thoughts are with Morag’s family and we send them our deepest condolences
